Artist Statement
My art grows out of my deep reverence for the mystery and wonder of nature. I love being in wild places, quietly observing. This fills me up and images then overflow to my paintings. Earth rhythms like the phases of the moon and the birth, growth, death and rebirth cycles of the seasons fascinate me.
The people I paint are often archetypes of these elemental forces. Universal symbols and forms rise from the collective unconscious to the surface of my paintings, adding layers of meaning to my work. Beauty is a primal force, an antidote for the angst of the world and the source of inspiration for my art.
